123 Meme

Ed, over at cross the road, tagged me. So here goes:

Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages or more. No cheating!
Find Page 123.
Find the first 5 sentences.
Post the next 3 sentences.
Tag 5 people.

No cheating, Ed said, so from the book closest to me at this moment, The Ryrie Study bible, NASV, red letter:

All the people perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood at a distance. Then they said to Moses, "Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not God speak to us, or we will die." Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid; for God has come in order to test you, and in order that the fear of Him may remain with you, so that you may not sin."So the people stood at a distance, while Moses approached the thick cloud where God was.

If there are still five of you reading this blog consider yourselves tagged.

lol... I'm sure you still have 5 reading :)

But I'm gonna pass. 5 lines of poetry taken out of context makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!

Hi TK - I forget the word you used to describe me when I said that I read bloggs but don't post on them. Anyway, this sounded like fun, so I decided to come out of the shadows and participate.

The book closest to where I'm sitting at the moment is "Room to Write" by Bonni Goldberg. If I'm understanding the instructions correctly, I'm supposed to post the sixth, seventh, and eighth sentences, so here is goes:

"Bite the bullet" is an idiomatic phrase peculiar to American English that means to confront a painful situation bravely. But it originates from a patient biting a bullet to avoid crying out during battlefield surgery without anesthetic.

It is said that you're truly fluent in a language when you can speak it idiomatically.

Okay, so it's not half as inspirational as what you had next to you, but it's still fun.

Hey Erin,

Thanks for checking on me. I'm doing pretty well. I guess there have been two fairly significant changes in my life that have led to my absence from the blog. My wife's pursuit of her Masters has gotten pretty intense. I pretty much do all the cooking and grocery shopping and that kinda stuff. The second thing is I have been trying to make good on my commitment to be in better shape at forty than I was at 20. I run or go to the gym 5-6 times a week. I don't eat an entire sleeve of Oreos every night before bed. So far, So good, I have lost 35 pounds and lowered my blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar significantly.
All the time I spent reading and writing has now gone to other things. At some point, I would like to get back to the blog but only time will tell.
Thanks again for checking.

TK - it's OK to take some time off from blogging, but to leave on such a lame post? Go out in a blaze of glory.
