Great Photo Essay from Time magazine

Time magazine has a great photo essay exploring what the world eats in an average week and how much it costs. What do you think these photos and numbers would say from your neighborhood?

And if you look closely, you'll see a close correlation betweem the amount spent -- and the amount of garbage created! (Of course, I'm sure my family is at the upper extreme on both accords).

I am embarrassed at the $$ my neighborhood spends on a week's worth of food...

also, the western families esp. the u.s. ones eat much more crap, less fruits and vegetables. makes you want to start a food drive. or experiment w/trying to survive on the amount of food/money some of the other countries used in a week.
p.s., on a random note, i heard a great new word on a message board. "slaptize". i.e. "sounds like that pastor needs to get slaptized".

i like the experiment of trying to survive on the amount of food/money that other folks around the world do. Then maybe we give away the money saved or something like that.

I have actually looked into some projects like that. but that is as far as I got.
